Combining QTL Mapping and Gene Expression Analysis to Elucidate the Genetic Control of ‘Crumbly’ Fruit in Red Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.)

چکیده

‘Crumbly’ fruit is a developmental disorder in raspberry that results malformed and unsaleable fruits. For the first time, we define two distinct crumbly phenotypes as part of this work. A consistent phenotype affecting majority fruits every season, which refer to (CFD) second where symptoms vary across seasons (MFD). Here, segregation MFD was examined full-sib family three QTL (Quantitative Trait Loci) were identified on high density GbS (Genotype by Sequencing) linkage map. This included new more accurate location previously QTLs. microarray experiment using normal at different stages several genes differentially expressed between non-crumbly within QTL. Analysis gene function highlighted importance processes compromise ovule fertilization triggers fruit. These candidate provided insights regarding molecular mechanisms involved genetic control red raspberry. study will contribute breeding strategies diagnostics through selection markers associated with trait.

Ellagitannins from Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) Fruit as Natural Inhibitors of Geotrichum candidum.

The paper presents the chemical characteristics of ellagitannins isolated from raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) fruit and their in vitro and in situ antifungal activity against Geotrichum candidum ŁOCK 0511. The study investigated a complex preparation containing various raspberry ellagitannins at a concentration of 86% w/w, as well as pure lambertianin C and sanguiin H-6. The ellagitannin preparati...

Nonsense Mutation Inside Anthocyanidin Synthase Gene Controls Pigmentation in Yellow Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.)

Yellow raspberry fruits have reduced anthocyanin contents and offer unique possibility to study the genetics of pigment biosynthesis in this important soft fruit. Anthocyanidin synthase (Ans) catalyzes the conversion of leucoanthocyanidin to anthocyanidin, a key committed step in biosynthesis of anthocyanins. Molecular analysis of the Ans gene enabled to identify an inactive ans allele in a yel...

Towards an understanding of the control of ‘crumbly’ fruit in red raspberry

The genetic disorder known as 'crumbly' fruit is becoming a serious problem in the European raspberry industry. The study set out to examine the crumbly phenotype in a red raspberry mapping population under two environments (field and polytunnel) across six seasons in an effort to understand variability of the syndrome and to examine whether genetic factors were important and if so, whether QTL...

Development of a multiplexed microsatellite set for fingerprinting red raspberry (Rubus idaeus) germplasm and its transferability to other Rubus species

This study aimed to develop a standardised and cost effective protocol for fingerprinting red raspberry germplasm using microsatellite (SSR) markers. Twenty SSRs well distributed through the raspberry genome were screened on 16 genetically diverse cultivars to assess polymorphism, allele size range, quality of amplification, ease of scoring, and discriminating power (DF). We selected published ...

Physiology of flowering and dormancy regulation in annual- and biennial-fruiting red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) – a review

Recent research on how the structure and physiological development of red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) plants are controlled by genotype and the climatic environment is reviewed. Some older work, especially on plant structure relations, is also included. Physiological differences between annualand biennial-fruiting plant types are highlighted. One major difference is the different requirements f...
